Fir Trees Pelargonium Nursery

2012 website

We are a family run business specializing in pelargoniums (nickname-geraniums) and offering a diverse range of over 400 varieties of unusual and stunning plants.

The nursery was started in 1992 and since then we have attended all the most prestigious flower shows in the country mainly those run by The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), including Chelsea where we won 7 gold medals in 10 years. We have won well over 100 gold medals and achieved Best in Show awards at BBC Gardeners World Live (3 times), Hampton Court Palace flower show, Tatton Park flower show, Gardening Scotland, Holker Hall and The Amateur Gardening Spring flower show.

We are open at the nursery for you to browse at your leisure fom 10am to 4pm daily in the summer (April to July) or 10am to 4pm Mon - Fri (August to March).

Mail order is our speciality we are known throughout to UK for sending larger plants by overnight carrier(click here for examples) , all details are on this website.

News For 2012

2012 sees us celebrating our 20th anniversary of the nursery. We started very small with just one 50ft X 10ft greenhouse and a12ft X 8ft propagating house. From the small beginnings, over the next 5 years we quickly expanded as we got invited to the large RHS flower shows and began to have success with gold awards and good plant sales. Over the past 20 years we have built up many good friendships and have a  wonderful loyal following which we are very grateful for.

2011 saw us receive all gold medals at the major flower shows we attended and the season was very busy, in fact I don’t think we have ever seen the benches so empty in August, but as soon as we finish one show season we begin propagating ready for the next one, and as I write this little introduction to our 2012 catalogue the benches are groning with lovely strong young plants waiting to be ordered by you all or packed up and taken to the various shows that we attend.

We have been very selective with our new introductions this year, anything on the new introductions bench that has not come up to scratch has been dropped. We have some nice ones coming along but we have been strict with ourselves to only release varieties that we have enough stock of, so as to be able to meet demand when the orders start coming in, in January and the following months.

As usual in 2012 we have 2 RHS events, one in May and one in August, so why not join me in an afternoon of pure pelargonium indulgence and homemade cakes of course!

THE WILLIAMS MEMORIAL MEDAL & MRS F E RIVIS PRIZE

We have just been awarded the above medal for our display at the Malvern Spring Show in 2011. The award is for the best single genus stand of plants in any of the RHS shows in 2011. This is the second time we have won this award (the last time in 1999).    Click on pictures to enlarge
